There's Something About: Disney

My most memorable travel escapade of 2011 came from the sunshine state, where fantasy meets reality in a place known as Walt Disney World.

Bringing adventure, euphoria, and magic to thousands everyday, Walt Disney World (WDW) Florida is the perfect location to find the most memorable and spectacular shots to whet any budding lomographer’s appetite!

There are four main parks to choose from, including The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom park is built around Cinderella’s Castle and encompasses some of the most extraordinary and out-of-this-world sights from: Adventure Land, Frontier Land, Fantasy Land, Tomorrow Land, and Main Street USA. You can find some famous landmark attractions here such as The Thunder Mountain Railway, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain.

Epcot is built upon the idea of an Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow (EPCOT) and was originally designed to be a Utopian city of the future. However, this plan fell through after Walt Disney’s passing and was turned into a futuristic park dedicated to the celebration of human achievement. EPCOT is fashioned around a giant golf ball (165 ft.), and is split into Future World and The World Showcase. The World Showcase is comprised of 11 countries from around the globe that holds a nightly eruption of fireworks that will blow you away!

Hollywood Studios focuses on Hollywood in the golden years and is represented by The Sorcerer’s Hat, a stylized version of the magical hat from Fantasia. The park boasts some of Disney’s most adrenaline pumping attractions, including the Rock ‘n’ Roll Rollercoaster, the Tower of Terror, Start Tours, the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, and the incredible Fantasmic!

Animal Kingdom is built around The Tree of Life, a sculpted 14-story, 50-foot-wide artificial tree that serves as the centerpiece and icon of the park. There are 7 themed areas dedicated to different continents or animals lost in time, ranging from the dinosaurs to the plains of Africa. You can even take a trek up Mount Everest.

There are truly some amazing shots to be taken from WDW Florida and I would recommend any keen Lomographer to go and see what all the fuss is about!

Many thanks – jbeischer

These shots are fantastic!! What kind of camera did you use? I love all the shots of the castle, especially the second one. I just went to Disney World a few days ago, and I'm waiting to get my film back from the lab. I hope my photos come out as well as yours did!
