These happened when I was in Paris: been forced out from a hostel, lost in translation, went to a Chinatown that was not so Chinese, witnessed people peeing on the sidewalk, and sleeping on a boat in the middle of a tour through the river. In spite all of that, everything was great overall because I spent my trip with my best friends and the city was amazingly beautiful.
I went to Paris because I think it is “a must visit” city if you’re going to spend your holiday in Europe. At first I’m just dreaming of when can I visit Europe. That dream came true when my university chose me and my five friends to be the representatives to join the summer school in Erfurt, Germany. A couple of weeks in Erfurt and the last remaining week, we agreed to go backpacking circling Europe but not all of Europe. And the 4th city of our destination was Paris!
First thing when we arrived in Gare du Nord Station, we looked for a place to spend the night because we arrived at 11pm. And because we haven’t reserved a room or bed, we ended up sleeping in different hostels. In the morning, we were very excited of what to do first in this Paris trip. Maybe we were too mainstream because we want to see the Eiffel Tower, The Lourve, Arc de Triomphe, Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris, and Sacré Coeur just like everybody else, a typical tourist. :)
First, we set off for the Eiffel Tower and because we want to try something like what people said about Paris that it was a romantic city, we agreed to take a boat down the river and you know what, that was an epic fail, because we ended up sleeping in the boat.
And then me and my friends spent a minute or two – or more, under the Eiffel Tower, whoa! After that we went to the Arc de Triomphe.
and then we visited the Sacré Coeur…
and spent the rest of the evening watching the city lights…good night!
