A Short Walk to Balestier

The location that I am going to talk about is a location where you can find interesting things to shoot at and they are old and meaningful. It is Balestier Road. Balestier Road is named after a man called Joseph Balestier, located in between Novena and Kallang. It is a place for food shops, designer firms, shops for electrical appliances, budget hotels, temples etc. Besides this, you guys can walk down to Whampoa via Balestier, a place for delicious local delights.

Yes, I mentioned about food in Balestier, there are well-known dishes like Bak Ku Teh (Pork Ribs Soup), Chicken Rice, Tau Sar Piah (Salted Bean Paste Puffs) and many more. There are old shops around the area and two well-known ones are Lam Yeo Coffee, which are the sole distributors for aromatic coffee powder in Singapore and an optics shop, which sells vintage plastic frame spectacles. If you continue to walk down to Balestier Hill Estates, which is a 10-minute walk down from Balestier, you will get to see an abandoned dragon water fountain. It is one of the well-known water fountains back in the 80s. If you are into street photography, well, this is a good place as there are a number of elderly people there.

So come on down to Balestier Road for a great shoot and enjoy the delicious food!
