Head down to Geylang for a fun-filled afternoon, taking photos, and enjoy the local delicacies! Geylang has been famous for its red light district and its local delicacies. Be it a hawker or even a pimp, lifestyle in Geylang is unique to their livelihood. A simple walk around the neighbourhood gives an insight of life in the area, which is very good for doing street photography.
Geylang also retained its old shop houses, which is very nice for cross processing! The one directional main road also gives a very nice impact to your pictures! The folks there are also very friendly to cameras and will sometimes pose for photographs.
Walking down Geylang, you’ll find yourself at Geylang Serai area, where it has one of the richest Malay culture in Singapore. Coincidentally, the Malays are celebrating Ramadan, a Muslim festival. Hawkers will be selling halal food and snacks, and clothing in celebration for the end of their fasting.
In a nutshell, Geylang is perfect for street photography, and if you are lucky, you’ll find some cats to photograph!
