A Trip to Manila's Own Version of Chinatown

Almost every country in the world has its own version of Chinatown. Find out in this post what Manila's very own has to offer.

The welcome arch of Manila Chinatown

The Manila Chinatown is located across the Pasig River from Intramuros. It is the oldest Chinatown in the world, established over 400 years ago. However, it was only 7 years ago when I discovered it. If I remember it correctly, we were on our way to visit some family friends in Tondo during that time when we decided to drive through Binondo since it wasn’t that far. When I saw a horse-drawn carriage (also known as calesa/kalesa) parked near the Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, I got amazed by it and how it feels to actually sit in there, so my grandmother told me she would accompany me and my sisters one day to ride one. I haven’t experienced it yet until now, so the next time I go to Binondo, I’ll be sure to try it! And since I wasn’t into photography back then, I only had the chance to take pictures of it now. Here, have a look:

And before I end this post, allow me to share one random thing: this is my favorite place to take pictures in and of because of its welcoming ambiance and great food!
