Stirling & Loch Lomond, Scotland

A Scottish road trip which runs from Stirling Castle to the Wallace Monument then the Loch Lomond! My best friend and her boyfriend who were working in Germany came and visited me in Edinburgh when I was studying there. We rented a car and went on a road trip on a sunny autumn day. My housemate joined us too!

We started our journey somewhere around 10 in the morning. Stirling Castle was about an hour drive away from Edinburgh.

Stirling is a medieval old town. It is located near the boundary between the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands. Stirling Castle is one of the largest castles in Scotland. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs on the Castle Hill.

The National Wallace Monument is a prominent Victorian tower which stands above the river on a rocky crag. It commemorates the 13th century Scottish hero, Sir William Wallace. The 246-step spiral staircase to the top of the tower provides the best vantage view of Stirling.

He played fetch :D

While we still had time, we decided to take a tour to the nearest Loch as Scotland is very well-known for its Lochs. We drove for almost another hour to the Loch Lomond, which is the largest loch in Scotland by its surface area, and is also the largest lake in Great Britain.

Sunny @ Loch Lomond!

That was the closest that I could get to the Highlands. :( I really wanna go back Scotland and visit the Highlands!
