Don't Be Afraid to Go Wide!

As an amateur street photographer in South Korea, I've been shooting safely with the Lomo LC-Wide at 0.9 quite a lot since I've purchased the LC-Wide and neglected the magic of 0.4-0.9.

Hello fellow Lomographers, my name’s Ryan. I’m an amateur street photographer in South Korea. In this post, I’d like to talk about my first rolls with the LC-Wide.

Korea is home to a dense population of people. Which makes my subjects tough to pick out at times. Not to worry though, that’s all part of the fun. I recently purchased an LC-Wide and I’ve been shooting most of my pictures from far away. So I decided to get up close as possible with my subjects who are mostly moving targets.

One of the photos I tried to shoot up close was at the cross walk. I didn’t get as close as I wanted due to the super wide lens…but that’s ok. I’m glad at how it turned out! The yellow lines on the streets are leading to my subjects. Also, the shot makes me wonder what he told her to make that face. A great photographer was quoted in the LC-Wide book that challenged my view on photography…

“If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”
Robert Capa

So I hope everyone can take a deep breath, relax, and just take the photos they want. I’m having lots of fun with this compact companion and I hope those with this camera are having fun too. Cheers!

P.S. Lomography is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.

The Lomo LC-Wide boasts the newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens. This 35mm camera wonder is the perfect companion for your photo expeditions. It produces eye-catching splashes of colour with astonishing saturation and contrasts with the added versatility of 3 different formats. Open up to a new photographic experience with the LC-Wide, available in our Shop.
