Fall for NYers, a getaway trip for some apple pickin'!
Being born and raised in Florida, I grew up in summer year round. As soon as I moved to the Big Apple and once my first Fall rolled around, I instantly had to go apple picking. Bright and early on a Saturday morning, I headed up to the orchard, bought my apple picking stick and bag, and was off. With a map in hand, I got the ripest apples at the peak of its season.
Not only did the orchard have apples, you could also pick your own produce and pumpkins. The day didn’t end there as the orchard had tons of afternoon activities. I also got to feed chickens and donkeys in their petting zoo, listen to live outdoor music, drink apple cider, buy homemade cookies and pies in the general store, and get lost in their corn maze.
Apple picking is a must for NYers as a fall getaway to unwind. You get fresh apples, mountain scenery, peace and quiet, and a chance to see fall foliage with loved ones. Best time to search for these orchards is in Fall around September and October when apples are at their juiciest!
