Out to Sea: Virgin Island, Bohol

Virgin Island is one of the islands in Bohol province in the Philippines’ Visayas Region.

After our adventure in Balicasag Island, we went straight to Virgin Island. This crescent-shaped island is known locally as the Virgin Island because no one lives there and it is not visited often by tourists. Part of the island is submerged when it is high tide.

This island is known for its white powdery sands and turquoise waters. I had a small accident in Balicasag Island so I was not able to swim here but I roamed the entire island. I saw tourists sun bathing and swimming in the sand bar, children playing with their makeshift toy cars and natives selling cooked shells. I also tried out FRESH sea urchin (fresh meaning not cooked and still moving) which tasted nothing like I have eaten before but was surprisingly good.

After an hour or two, my mom and her friends were tired from swimming so we decided to head back to our hotel to rest.

This was one of the best beaches I’ve been to and I hope to visit Bohol again in a few years.
