Falling for Fall: A Romantic Walk Inside the Budapest Zoo

Why not spend a romantic afternoon walking hand in hand in Europe’s second oldest zoo? Why not check out the baby Gorilla or the tiger cubs or simply take a stroll around the gardens whilst admiring the beautiful collection of botanical specimens? You won’t be disappointed that’s for sure!

The Budapest Zoo, built in 1886 is located in the City Park, close to Heroes’ Square and Szechenyi Bath. It makes for a very pleasant walk not only for visitors with children who will certainly enjoy peeking at the animals, including rhinos, alligators, frogs, and a variety of fish, but also for adults who seek to leave the city behind for a couple of hours.

When we visited in August this year, it was too hot to mention and we kept stopping by the water fountains to drink and wet ourselves. Visiting in autumn I’m sure is more pleasant; even the animals would not just be lazying about in the shade trying to conserve their energy as much as possible.

In autumn, you can enjoy taking a walk by the large pond or the aviaries which house some very exotically coloured birds! Speaking of houses, the zoo is divided by country or region, for example there’s an India house, Africa, etc. What’s more romantic than a walking trip around the world enjoying the denizens of each region as you go along. Don’t forget, it’s not just animals we’re talking about here, as can be expected, there’s also an expansive collection of plants and trees inside; including a whole greenhouse dedicated solely to Bonsai!

So what are you waiting for? Entrance fee for adults is 2,100 HUF or about 7euros so if you’re in Budapest, why not make it a nice romantic afternoon at the zoo?
