On the whole, the UK is somewhat lacking in nice beaches, let alone the glorious sandy kind so I was pleased when we got to Paignton Beach that it is pretty much perfect.
Paignton may be better known for its wonderful zoo or tacky amusement arcades than for its spectacular sea front but the beach there is really stunning and not to be missed.
The sea at Paignton on the hot summer day that we visited was lovely and warm and hundreds of people were swimming in it and doing various water sports. This is a fairly rare sight in Great Britain and it always makes me happy when I witness it. Although I was unable to go in the water that day as we had got the train there and had no costumes with us, it looked lovely and it must have been warm as there were even small children swimming in it.
The sand there is perfect for making sandcastles and doing other fun sand activities, like making a mermaid tail for your friends while they lie down! There is also lots of things for children, such as small rides, play areas, and ice creams. And for the adults, behind the sea front, there is an abundance of pubs and eateries.
