I started coming to this place this past summer with my friends, and it is definitely one of my favorite spots on the island. It's the perfect place to just hang out with friends and have a good time!
At the edge of one of the neighborhoods (Portlock) in Hawaii Kai is this “beach” called China Walls. I wouldn’t exactly call it a beach though, because there’s no sand; only cliffs of rock. About 20 feet in both directions from where you climb down, is a wide expanse of rock; perfect for picnics, taking photos, and hanging out! The TV series Lost also filmed here for an episode or two I believe!
The very first time I came down here with my friend Summer, I fell in love. It’s ocean is as far as the eye can see, perfect blues everywhere! There are so many places to explore, climb up, climb down, take photos, and lie out in the sun.
On calmer days, I like to jump off of the rock ledge into the gorgeous, cold water. It’s a lot of fun and you can get awesome jumping pictures! It’s also a great place for underwater photos, when I get my Krab I’ll be heading back there!
This place is also a popular surf spot for good surfers. It can be very dangerous if you don’t know how to swim or surf. The water is pretty deep, and the only way to climb up after you jump in, is to scale the wall back up the ledge. The waves also crash on or close to the wall, so I wouldn’t suggest this as a surf place unless you really know what you’re doing.
If you stay long enough, you can catch an amazing sunset, I can’t begin to explain how beautiful it is, you’d have to be there in person to see it! So if you’re ever near the area, come check it out!
