Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is the perfect place to take an LC-A and some Redscale XR film.

I visited the Grand Canyon National Park in June, 2011. It is truly an awe-inspiring place. With my trusty LC-A and a three pack of Redscale XR film I did my best to document the location.

I saw some interesting trees.

And I saw some buildings.

And I went on a hike. Hiking into the canyon is easy, as it’s all downhill. Getting back is the hard part. Starting early, before the sun rises is recommended so the difficult hike up the trail won’t be during the heat of the afternoon. There are two main trails: the Bright Angel and the South Kaibab. I took the South Kaibab Trail. It’s a more direct route into the canyon but there is a downside, there’s limited shade and no water. So you really want to start early and be prepared. Free tram rides to the trailhead begin as early as 5am. The views from the trail are incredible.

After a long day of hiking, a cocktail at El Tovar Hotel is a great reward.

If you don’t want to hike, you can ride a mule to the bottom of the canyon, spend the night, and ride back up the next morning. Here are the mules in the early morning waiting to take their passengers into the canyon.

Okay enough of my writing, here are some canyon views.

One last thing, the squirrels here are professional posers. They look cute and harmless but they do bite and have sharp claws, so do not feed them.

Gorgeous photos! But I think the squirrels were the ones who stole my heart.

Love the article, great photos. And it is true about those squirrels, They have no fear. The crows are pretty bold too.
