I love going to Jino's Thai Cafe in Headingley at any time of the year as the food is gorgeous. I particularly enjoy it in the summertime as there are lots of outside seating and a really lovely atmosphere right in the heart of students-ville.
Jino’s is best described as a place that “does exactly what it says on the tin”, it is a cafe and it never lets you forget that. It is fairly small but they manage to squeeze in a few people both inside and on the patio area. Don’t expect plush seating and tablecloths as small metal chairs with black covering and cafeteria tables are as good as it gets.
The menu however, is very comprehensive. There seems to be a lot more choices here than at other Thai restaurants in the area. It is also fairly reasonably priced with huge meals ranging in price from around £6 to £11. My favourites are the stir-frys which they do in several different flavours.
My favourite thing about Jino’s is that it is Bring Your Own Booze. Obviously this makes eating there a lot cheaper as drinks can be the biggest part of the bill. There is a conveniently located supermarket just up the road so we usually go there and get some alcohol such as a bottle of red wine. I like this element as well because there is obviously a much bigger drinks selection at a supermarket than there would be at a cafe/restaurant.
I also love the decoration inside Jino’s as it is far less grand than in other places but still looks very authentic and quaint. There are bamboo curtains and lovely pictures hanging on the walls.
You can find Jino’s at 46a Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds or check out the website for more info, menus, and opening hours.
