Orang Asli Pos Titom, Kuala Lipis

Pos Titom is an Orang Asli village located about 4 hours away from the small town of Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Kuala Lipis is located about 3 hours away from Kuala Lumpur. Here’s a look at what you can find there.

First experiences are very valuable to each person.

This was my first trip to Orang Asli village. Orang Asli (original people) is a generic Malaysian term used for any indigenous groups that can be found in Peninsular Malaysia. This place is very far from the nearest town, which is Kuala Lipis. We had to face a 4-hour journey to reach it. As always I brought along my Holga 135 BC. Luckily, for the first time I got a closer look of the Banjaran Titwangsa (Titwangsa Mountains).

We were headed to a place called Pos Titom Village. They have their own religion, language, customs, and worldviews which they are determined to pass on to their future generations. The temperature in that place was very cold (at least for me); it ranged from 15-25 degrees. I think this is the perfect place to enjoy some fresh air from the Malaysian tropical forest.

With regard to their way of life, their houses are made up totally from bamboo trees. They loved to hunt wild animals to eat such as tigers, boars, bears, squirrels, elephants etc. I was really shocked when I heard about it. Their traditional dance is also very funny which is called “sewang” but I enjoyed it very much.

It’s actually quite a fun experience so I hope you all can try to spend visit the Orang Asli village as well. They are unique you know…have fun!

The Holga 135BC will veil your images in mystery. “BC” stands for “Black Corner”, as this camera creates a shadowy vignette in corners of your photos. See this mysterious beauty in our Shop!
