Sometimes when you want to escape from the city, you can actually find an escape within the city itself. Like the garden next to the Dom Church in the Netherlands.
One of my favourite places in the city where I go to school at, Utrecht, is actually close to the school. Almost every time while walking to school, I pass by it. It’s a garden that is hidden next to the Dom Church. At first I didn’t know it was there then one day, one of my classmates showed me this ‘short cut’ to school and I was sold.
This garden is so quiet, even though most of the time it’s filled with tourists and children, it still feels like you’re miles away from the city. But you’re not, you’re actually right in the middle of it. It’s a place where I often go to eat my lunch, read up on some homework or just sit and watch people walk past the numerous herbs growing there. It feels like being in a totally different world, if only for a moment.
