A Couple of Days in Mexico City

I had my very own lomo walk in one of the world’s most populated cities, filled with contrasts, colors, smells and even flavors. A city that is at the same time, colonial and cosmopolitan…a true lomographic paradise!

Mexico City, is the capital of Mexico, the biggest and main city in the country and one of the most populated cities in the world. A city that even within its hugeness and chaos you can find things that will amaze you just around the corner, that is if you’re up for it…

We visited Mexico City for a couple of days and decided to have a lomo walk on the most central part of town in this great big city. I already knew the “Zocalo” was the main point where everything came together down town, but I never imagined I would have the opportunity to capture so many amazing things on lomo.

The “Paseo de la Reforma”, one of Mexico City’s biggest boulevards has a huge sculpture of an angel on top of a pillar, named “Ángel de la Independencia” which is very characteristic and one of the most important monuments in the city since it was created in 1910 to commemorate 100 years of begging for Mexico’s independence from Spain in 1810. Once you are there, it really is an impressive sight to look up to that golden angel.

We also visited “Coyoacán” which is a borough inside Mexico City. The interesting part of “Coyoacán” is that it looks like a small town or “Pueblo” inside the big city. It has a lot of pedestrian zones, cobblestone roads, big town squares with beautiful gazebos, but the main charm is that all the houses are painted in bright and vibrant colors and people just live on this stress-free pace.

After this weekend I learned that even amidst the chaos of a huge city, beauty is always around in every corner.
