Coffee Circus is a place for coffee aficionados and healthy food lovers.

This whole Coffee Circus thing was started by a friend of mine, Gedas. First, he opened 2 coffee spots at the world-famous Camden market. Next, he scouted for a location near his house in Crouch End, a vibrant area in North London. He signed the lease, came up with some quirky design and started to renovate the almost derelict property. A few months later – hurray! – the opening followed.

Now, at Coffee Circus they make great coffees, loose teas, homemade cakes and mouth watering food. There is a wide variety of freshly-roasted coffee beans that can be ground for your specific needs. All their baristas are professionally trained and only use freshly-roasted coffee beans from local roasters, La Marzzoco espresso machines and Anfim grinders.

The chief is my longtime friend whom I’ve known for more than 10 years but surprisingly I never ate his food before because I was a vegetarian and he used to specialize in mostly meat. How surprised I was to find out that the Coffee Circus menu was completely vegetarian and very healthy! Sharas the chief offers mushroom soup on a daily basis, plus the soup of the day – which is different everyday. My favorite is the pumpkin creme soup. Although watercress with almond is also very yummy, so is fennel and parsley. He also does excellent grilled polenta served with buttered green beans, Stilton sauce and Italian baby plum tomatoes. I never tried polenta before, but now I am a huge fan.

They also exhibit local artists and do acoustic gigs.

By the way ... in Spain we said "cortado", but in Portugal, you must order a "pingo" (pinga de leite = milk drop = gota de leche) ... ;)) ... perhaps, this information would be usefull ... ;))
