As a filmmaker, Anina has an eye for the extraordinary. This quickly drew her into the extensive scene of Berlin dog salons, where she realized how most of the time, the dogs and the owners look very similar. For this reason, she does not own a dog herself.
If you want to be trendy in Berlin these days, it’s not enough for just the young gentleman or madam to have the latest hairstyle – but Rover has to too! Berlin is the dog capital of Germany! Here are three tips on getting to know the Berlin Dog Salon scene:
1. Dog Salon Exquisit
Christel Balfanz has been running this store for the last 42 years. The Bergamasco Shepherd dog, “Nelly”, is here for the very first time. “She’s 11 years old and has plenty of flab and fat to keep her warm” says Christel laughing. There’s even a mirror on the wall so that the dogs can see themselves. Prices start at €25.
