If you're looking to get the best donuts in New York (and I generally am), look no further than the Doughnut Plant.
There are only a few things in life greater than a donut and a delicious cup of coffee. That duo is made even better by the incredible donut concoctions made by the Doughnut Plant at the Lower East Side. They divide their selection by ingredients. There are the yeast donuts (the creme brulee donut is my favorite) and cake donuts (okay, maybe the tres leche donut is my favorite). They’ve got typical round donuts, square donuts, and churros, which are sort of like stick donuts. Whatever you get, it will most likely be delicious and you’ll want to eat more.
Anything can happen when you’re at the Doughnut Plant. Sometimes I’ll even go wild and get one of their amazing chai teas instead of coffee.
Their storefront on Grand Street has seating in the windows and a few stools scattered about. If you eat your treats there, then you’ll be able to get first pick of the fresh ones as they come out of the oven, which is at the back of the store. They’ve just opened up another store in the Chelsea Hotel, and they also sell their doughnuts at stores around the city like Dean & Deluca but at a considerable markup.
If you want the real deal at the best price, then head down to the original store.
