I was lucky to be able to view the process of making this dragon statue for the traditional dance performance.

Lion dance (simplified Chinese: 舞狮; traditional Chinese: 舞狮; pinyin: wǔshī) is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture, Utara performers mimic a lion’s movements in a lion costume. The lion dance is often mistakenly referred to as dragon dance. An easy way to tell the difference is that a lion is operated by two people, while a dragon needs many people. Also, in a lion dance, the performers’ faces are covered, since someone is inside the lion. In a dragon dance, the performers can be seen since the dragon is held upon poles. Basic fundamentals of lion dance movements can be found in most Chinese martial arts. – Source: Wikipedia

I was lucky to be able to view the process of making this dragon statue. This is the shop that makes the statue for lion dance, here you can see how they really make it artistic, from the bamboo bleaching, up to drawing, painting, and sewing around the dragon

If you come to Ipoh, Malaysia, make sure to stop and see the process of how the lion dance dragon statue is made.
