Sweet Explosion: Ladurée Patisserie, Paris

If you want the possibly best macarons in town, you'll have to wait quite some time - it's always crowded at the Ladurée Patisserie in Paris.

The Ladurée Patisserie in Paris is best known for its double-decker macarons of which they sell up to fifteen thousand pieces a day. Macarons are a sweet confectionery and you definitely need to get some if you are in Paris. They even sell them at McCafé.

The Ladurée Pastry Shop at Champs-Élysées is probably the best-known shop, but there are other stores all over Paris and also in the UK and other countries. You can’t miss the green and gold storefront and the windows are always decorated with delicious cakes and treats. But most likely you’ll first notice the crowds of people with large Ladurée shopping bags passing by. If you want to buy macarons and the most famous store, you’ll have to wait in queue for quite some time. Luckily, you can still look around the nice store without waiting for an hour. (It’s a bit dark, so sadly all my photos with slide film turned out too blurry.)

If you don’t feel like waiting in line either, there’s also another smaller store in a mall (next to Starbucks, if you want coffee) where you can get macarons in six flavours for 1 Euro a piece. Just make sure you don’t leave Paris without trying those delicious sweets!
