Derelict Military Watchtower

Here's an article about one object at one location - and trying to take as many different photos as possible!

Somewhere in the Suffolk countryside lies an old nuclear weapons storage base. It closed in the 1960s and many of the buildings have been taken over by small businesses. The site is surrounded by a lovely barbed-wire fence and on each corner is a rather impressive watchtower.

One watchtower in particular is rather well-placed and lends itself well to photography – especially with the low winter sun. My aim was to take a photo of this watchtower using as many cameras, films and angles as possible. By concentrating on photography of one object, it allows you to think about new and unusual compositions. Unfortunately, I moved away from the area after three trips, so the project was rather short-lived!

I mentioned one was in each corner – here is another that is visible to the public. It is surrounded by trees so slightly hard to photograph. And I only managed to get to it on my final trip.
