My boyfriend:So we have 3 days to find something to do for your birthday? Me: Yes. :-( My boyfriend:How about we jump on the Eurostar into Disneyland Paris? Me: YES! :-)
As a family, with friends, or as a couple, Disneyland Paris is a must-visit! And on the 8th of May (my birthday!) my boyfriend took me here for 3 days. :-)
We got a great deal through the Eurostar website which included our hotel and my boyfriend found cheap park tickets on Ebay! it actually came with a child ticket (which we didn’t need) so we just gave this away to a German family who was so appreciative as they would have had to pay nearly 100 euros for it. :-) (I await my good karma)
I had not been on the Eurostar before and it was great! We had a connecting train in Lille and then straight into Disney! Literally, the train station is outside the gates to Disney Park. The weather was perfect if not a little too hot! but it’s always nice to hear its raining at home when you go away and the weather is like that.
We got there at 2pm on a Friday which was good timing as I think a lot of families start to go home for lunch/dinner and we didn’t really queue much for any ride on this day! I noticed that at around dinnertime you can jump on any ride as families start to go home which for me and my boyfriend was great! Being quite tired on our first day there our last ride was ‘Space Mountain’ which was brilliant! Basically a roller coaster in the dark but you pretend that you’re in a rocket going into space! Well, it sure felt like it! I thought my chest was going to explode it was going so fast! I think because I was tired it didn’t help as I got off the ride feeling a little dizzy. :-)
My other favourite rides were in the small Toy Story land and one ride is where you sit inside RC Racer! you feel like you’re going off the track but it’s excellent! And the other is where you feel like one of Andy’s toy army men and you get lifted up into the air in a parachute then dropped back down a few times! (Despite being 25, I love Toy Story)
When it came to lunchtime the food here is expensive so if you want a sandwich/snack there is a really nice cheap sandwich shop just inside the train station. :-)
I would recommend picking up a map and a guide which tells you what’s on during what time! towards the end of the day there is Mickey’s Dream Parade where a lot of Disney characters come out and dance and sometimes pick children in the crowd to come out and dance too which is really cute!
On the other two days we were here, as we had seen this parade for us it was prime time to hit more rides as the queues were a lot less. :-)
I can honestly say that as a couple you can do the whole park in 3 days but perhaps as a family it would take longer. I don’t think I would recommend going in May as it was quite busy and on 1 ride we queued up for 80 minutes! despite the weather being perfect though, you could take a train into Paris for the day. I would recommend going through the Eurostar as it just felt a lot easier than a plane and having to rush for it as the station was a 4-min bus ride from our hotel and you can get really good deals from the website!
Well I will sure remember my 25th birthday now!
You can take a look at my photos which I took using my Diana Mini and Velvia film :-)
Thanks!
