I have been coming to this beautiful park in North Leeds for the last 6 years and I am still not bored with it even in the slightest bit.
Golden Acre Park is situated in Adel, north of the popular student area of Headingley in Leeds. It can be accessed just off the Otley Road, north of Lawnswood. It is essentially a large park, with a bit of a nature reserve for ducks and birds. There is ample free parking, and usually in summer there is an ice-cream van parked right at the entrance. There is also a nice picnic area in the trees, with benches and tables and so on.
My absolute favourite part of the park however, is the little lake in the middle, you can walk all the way around this (or jog if you are that way inclined). There are ducks, swans, and geese on the lake and it is super fun to feed these, or just watch the little kids feed them. At the side of the water there is a little green gazebo which I absolutely love, though I have no idea why.
From this gazebo you can do birdwatching, or just have a sit down when it starts to rain (which it always seems to when I go there for a picnic – maybe because I always go in winter!). All in all this is a lovely family park and I recommend a visit to anyone living locally.
