Meanwood Park is near my house and I love a wander around it in any weather. Recently I have started taking my nephew along to the newly-revamped play area as well.

I love wide open spaces and Meanwood Park, which is right by my house is no exception. Popular with joggers/dog walkers/picnic enthusiasts alike, it is a large 29 hectare park which makes up part of the Meanwood Valley Trail. It is mostly grass with a few pathways etc. A lovely river – well, Meanwood Beck runs through it, in the trees, with cute little bridges going across it at various points.
Recently built, there is now a children’s play area which has given the park a new lease of life in my opinion and it is now attracting younger people and families from around the area who previously may have found it a bit dull. In addition to the average playground equipment, there is a mini-climbing wall and a full-size basketball court.
I would recommend anyone to visit Meanwood Park, especially if you happen to be in the area anyway, and don’t forget to take a picnic!
