A Day Out in Birmingham, UK

So you only have one day to spend in Birmingham (UK)? Then here are some suggestions on what you can do to make the most of your trip!

On the 30th April (The day after the Royal Wedding!) my friend and I caught the train to spend the day in Birmingham! By travelling with the National Rail we printed out one of their many 2-for-1 vouchers! One of which was for Birmingham’s Sea-life Centre so this was our first port of call! Being 2-for-1, we only paid £18 for the two of us which also included the cool 4D theatre experience where we sat and watched an extract of ‘Happy Feet’ and got sprayed with water and bubbles! The Sea-life Centre is perfect for families and children of all ages! the staff are very helpful and at certain times they do talks about some of the fish and you can even touch a sting ray!

After the Sea-life Centre, my friend and I grabbed a quick snack and went to do a spot of shopping in Birmingham’s iconic ‘Bullring’. It was built at a cost of £800 million and houses some of Britain’s best-known retailers including Selfridges (where you can get the best doughnuts!). You will spot the Bullring straight away if not by the twice its life-sized Bronze Bull outside! but the big metal discs surrounding the outside.

Dinnertime! Shopping made my friend very hungry so I took him to the ‘Handmade Burger Co.’ in Brindley Place! Renowned for its array of stylish bars, cafés, and restaurants, Brindley Place offers the ideal space in which to enjoy a night out with friends or sit peacefully and watch the canal barges pass by and as many Brummies will tell you ‘Birmingham has more canals than Venice’. :-)

By now time was ticking so before we headed back home on the train, we walked up Broad Street and caught a film at Cineworld…spending a little more than we wanted on the ‘pick ’n’ mix’! haha!

So that are just some of my suggestions for you, if you only have one day to spend in Birmingham but there are lots more to do! such as: Hippodrome Theatre, Thinktank, IMAX Cinema, Cadbury World, The Black Country Living Museum, Alton Towers Theme Park
