Redscaled Broga Hills

The real name of this place is Bukit Lalang, referring to the thin and long species of local grass that grows abundantly on this hill. The view from the top of Broga Hills has been described as incredible and offers one of the best sights from such a low hill. Lush valleys of a green rain forest, peppered with flat palm oil plantations and a few towns, can be seen vibrantly on a clear day, with the backdrop of several mountains in the far distance.

It is situated 50 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur, Broga Hills is located in Semenyih. When you get to Semenyih, try to find your way to University of Nottingham as this is the nearest landmark to Broga Hills. It is about a 3.5km drive from the University of Nottingham then you’ll see Rabbit Fun Land. And voila! You are already at the entrance. You need to plan your journey and get there at least by 5:30am. If not, the parking place would be packed and you might even have some difficulties making your way up to the top.

Broga Hills has been an attraction as a mild hiking and scenic spot. The altitude of the hill is 500ft above sea level and the journey to reach the summit took about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Take time to enjoy the hike, walking along the tall grass and watch your steps as the ground might be slippery due to rain. Broga Hills has three peaks; you need to get to all the three peaks to complete your journey. The view from the top is certainly breathtaking. Try to get there while it is still dark and you’ll get the chance to see the sunrise. When going down, take extra precaution when sliding.

As for safety measures, be sure to wear comfortable hiking boots or shoes. Be practical. Do not bring any unnecessary stuff which will give you more load and inconvenience while hiking. Have some breakfast or a little snack before your hike. And of course, your cameras!
