Vologda in Winter

Vologda is a Russian city, it was founded in 1147 and is situated on the Vologda River. Vologda is a major transport centre in the northwest of Russia and belongs to a group of cities possessing historical status: there are 224 monuments of history, architecture, and culture in it.

It is a very beautiful provincial Russian town. Of course it’s a regional centre, with plenty of posters, ads shopping centers, but when you are in it’s historical heart, somewhere in the small yard, far away from magisterial, people and all this vanity, you feel you have already been here. The atmosphere is warm and and inviting, similar to a town that you consider dear.

Magnificent temples, churches and bell towers have been here for more than a hundred years. I was impressed by the combination of the past and the present. I was lucky to climb up a bell tower. It was unforgettable to feel the sound of the bells all through my one body. The feeling was is so hard to express that I even forgot of my cameras. Thus, I only took one photo there.

Near to Alexander Nevsky’s church, is the Vologda Teachers’ Training University. While I was waiting for my bus to Rybinsk I met a cat. It came out from the university. Perhaps, it wanted to lie somewhere in the sun. But as I started to take its photo, he had already escaped off to somewhere. Such a shy cat.:)
