Praia D’el Rey, Portugal

The name means “The King’s Beach”, but it’s more than just a beach. It has luxury villas, hotels, and of course, a beautiful beach.

Some time ago, me and a couple of friends were tasked with making a short film for class. We decided to make it about a person lost in a desert. The set was this beach. The only problem was that it was winter. But that turned out to be not much of a problem, we just had to wait for a clear day. And when that day came, we immediately set off on our trip. The road there is nice. We passed by a couple of towns and as we were nearing our final destination, the view changed. The trees and small houses changed to big luxury villas and there was also a lot of construction work, because of a new golf course. There is also a Marriott Hotel in there, but we didn’t get to see it.

When we finally got to the beach, we started preparing the props needed, and doing everything to start shooting. I took the chance to shoot with my Fisheye. The day was nice, the light was really good, and the place was beautiful. The sand is really soft, and since it’s a little far from the city, it’s not always full of people. The beach has rock formations throughout its extension. It’s a really nice place to visit and take some photos with your favorite Lomo camera.
