Cafe Du Monde: A New Orleans Landmark that Truly Satisfied My Sweet Cravings

I went to New Orleans to experience the Mardi Gras festivities but I think one of the major highlights of my trip was having cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.

It was a rainy Friday and after a lunch of poboys and alligator meat at the nearby Cafe Pontalba, we needed a sweet fix. And with our cameras and umbrellas, we knew we were headed to Cafe Du Monde.

You have to be fast and alert because if you’re not, it might take you forever to find a free table at Cafe Du Monde in the New Orleans French Market. Maybe it was the alligator meat because it took us not more than 5 minutes to sit ourselves in a rather comfortable spot. Comfortable enough in a place boosting with activity and energy. A place that is uniquely New Orleans. A great place to people watch. A cafe known for it’s cafe au lait made with their chicory blended coffee and those lovely yummy beignets. If you haven’t had chicory blended coffee I greatly recommend that you try it. I bet you’ll love it. And as for the beignets, well, I’ll put a higher bet that you’ll love it more.
We had three plates of beignets and cafe au lait to satisfy those sweet cravings. Satisfied. I also remembered to sneak in a few shots with my LC-A+ while in beignet heaven.

And then Saturday came. We were on our way back to Baton Rouge from a family party in New Orleans when suddenly those cravings started again. Everyone agreed and so we hit the exit to the Cafe Du Monde Veterans Boulevard Location. We had our beignet and au lait fix, tons of laughter, powdered sugar on our faces and again I happily managed to take a few snaps with Ms. LC-A+ loaded this time with Kodak 400CNBW.

So if you find yourself in New Orleans, please, I beg you to go to Cafe Du Monde. Beignets and coffee – that’s all you have to order. Don’t even ask for a menu. You’ll love the place and your stomach will be happy.
