Come to T: a Rental Villa in Tagaytay

Feel the cool air with a touch of Greek-Balearic flavor. Sitting at the edge of a cliff, T has a spectacular view of the Taal Volcano and its lake. The first Asian home to be featured in Architectural Digest, T pays homage to modern design with a uniquely organic flair.

A gracious example of Filipino hospitality, T accepts private bookings as a weekend getaway and is a venue for corporate retreats, private parties, and exclusive events. – ChilLine Website

This is a short drive from the main rotunda of Tagaytay, beyond the unassuming wooden gates of 132 Talisay road stands a modern, imposing house. Its owners have given it a name, “T” which probably stands for Tagaytay. It has a breathtaking view of Taal Volcano and lake which can be vividly seen through the glass-panel walls surrounding the house as well as the open lake view patio and pool area. All the interiors are white accented by dark-wood furniture pieces. It has a minimalist approach which gives the whole place a sense of warmth and comfort to every guest. As mentioned, it was originally designed by Antonio “Budji” Layug and was built more than two decades ago for Jo Mitra and brothers Bacchus and Nino Zulueta. They later on established the lifestyle and development company ChilLine with T as its initial offering to the public.

Our family has been renting this place for several years now whenever there is an important occasion. It fits all of us because it has two master suites, two additional bedrooms, five baths, a lake view patio, hidden zen garden, gourmet kitchen, outdoor swimming, four hot tubs, a sauna and steam room! The whole place was ours. It feels like we are in a different country when we spend our weekend here. Best of all, they offer free WiFi access for those who can’t leave their work at the office. T also has a friendly staff of people that provides their guests’ every need.

The company clearly targets the upper market as they charge P25,000 ($568) a night for a weekday and P30,000 ($682) for a weekend. Double the price if its a weekend package of Friday to Sunday. The villa is actually priced competitively as it will already accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. Though, there will be a different rate for holidays, peak seasons as well as commercial/movie shoots.

(Trivia for Filipinos: The movie “For the First Time” starring KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez was actually shot here and not in Greece)
