I embarked on this Russian trip due to my love of Lomo. My journey to Moscow started with a flight from Taichung, with a transit in Hong Kong. The tour leader advised us to bring some thick pullovers but I didn't have a chance to use them as the temperature hit 40 degrees Celsius.
The local students told me that last July’s temperature is only 9 degrees Celsius, one can see that global warming is more serious than we can imagine. I didn’t see a lot of people using analogue cameras in Moscow, I thought everyone would be shooting with an LC-A or a Smena 8M. Like all modern cities, most camera stores only sell the latest digital cameras. With my Holga, the Russians might think I am old fashioned!
Everything feels right when I shoot with my Lomo cams in Moscow. Also, the weather was bright and sunny everyday, even a newbie like me found it easy to shoot. The sun doesn’t set till after 11pm, hence, I can still shoot outdoors at 10+pm. The only pity is that I didn’t manage to buy an LC-A in Russia, I will definitely come back to Russia for another Lomo tour in the future!
