Take the Ferry

Cabin fever led to several rolls of film being sacrificed and a camera nearly going overboard. On a recent trip to Amsterdam with a group of friends we took the ferry from Harwich in Suffolk to the Hook of Holland.

Eight hours on the ferry, each way was pretty boring and cabin fever led to several rolls of film being sacrificed and one camera nearly going overboard. The results are pretty satisfying, there were some great blocks of colour and angular structures on the ferry which were perfect for doubles.

The Hook of Holland itself is really interesting, it has loads of industrial buildings and chimneys puffing smoke. On a clearer day with a camera more geared up for long distance shots you could get some great photos.

I’m not going to recommend that you take a ferry, BUT if you do, take a camera and make the most of your boredom.
