The Hockeyroos Video Guy

Lately I have been doing some work experience as a video analyst for the Australian Women's hockey team The Hockeyroos. I was asked to join them on their first training camp of the year to video their trial matches and then analyse the game for the coaches to use as training guides. It was a heap of fun especially since I was able to bang a test roll of Kodak Elitechrome 200 into my new LC-A!

Perched high above the ground in a little tower that tends to cop the full brunt of Perth’s famous Fremantle Doctor (the sea breeze that kicks in everyday in summer – a wind and kite surfers paradise!) we captured a week-long series of trial matches to determine the new Australian Team for 2011.

With a new coach at the helm, the 60 girls invited to the camp were out to impress and the on-field battles left nothing to the faint of heart.

The only problem that I had up in my little bird’s nest was not being able to concentrate on filming the games when the sun started to dip behind the horizon and the sky lit up with amazing colours. Luckily I was able to sneak away from my duties for a couple of seconds to snap a cool sunset!

I’m just hoping that I did a good job and they want to take me around the world!
