Segovia: Food for the Soul

A day trip can be a great adventure. It's a Sunday like any other and you want to do something different, to leave the city and treat your eyes to something other than your usual surroundings. Grab your Lomo, your dog (if you've got one), get in the car and say: "Let's go somewhere".

An hour and a half’s journey isn’t bad for a day trip. Segovia will do just fine. It’s a good idea to pack some sandwiches or a pizza like we did. Look for a place that feels right, somewhere peaceful. Sit there, watch people walk by and take it all in. I promise you, it’s better than eating in the most expensive of restaurants.

Afterwards, have a wander around the street and parks, with no particular destination in mind, like a little lost soul. Discover a beautiful church, a special out of the way place, sit on a café terrace and have a coffee while you watch others enjoy their Sunday afternoons. Lie on the ground and contemplate the Alcazár and picture the people that lived within the castle walls that dominate the city. Dream and let your spirit soar.
