The Year of the Rabbit is here. Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit in Honolulu's Chinatown with a fanciful street parade.
Chinese New Year’s is celebrated around the world by many people and many cultures. Here in Hawaii it can be hard to miss as it is as popular as the other New Year’s we celebrate. This year I decided to grab my LC-A+ and a roll of Redscale XR and lomograph the parade.
We are lucky here on the island of Oahu to have an old and historic Chinatown right next to the heart of Downtown Honolulu. It is here that we have our big block party and parade for Chinese New Year’s. There are food booths, toys, luck items, and t-shirts with rabbits spanning several streets.
This year I wanted to see mostly the parade. Last year I wanted to go in all the shops and follow the lion dancers as they danced from shop to shop. The parade went on for blocks and I walked from one end of the parade route to the other snapping pictures as I went.
I encourage you to check out some Chinese New Year events near you!
