A beautiful little parish in the Eden Valley where walking, eating, and relaxing are paramount. Ravenstondale is a picturesque little village that sits on the Upper Eden Valley close to the Lake District National Park.

The village is a hard-working rural community and farming is a very important part of the local economy. Ravenstonedale has many little cottages available as holiday lets and is a great base for a quintessentially English countryside break. My friends and I took a trip here for New Year and celebrated New Year’s Eve at a friend’s cottage.
The village is a great base for visiting the surrounding areas of Kendal and the Howgill Hills in Cumbria.
The countryside is very lush, green, and pretty and there are many trails to walk of varying abilities.
We took a walk up the Howgill Hills (albeit a little hungover!) on New Year’s Day. We chose a small two-hour trek up to a lovely waterfall where we saw lots of ponies and tiny shetlands.
There are two great pubs in the village, one at either end, we enjoyed eating, and drinking, in them over the New Year.
