During a day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Fellow Johor Bahru lomographers brought us to Istana Garden. Located 10 minutes away from the Singapore causeway, Istana Garden overlooks the Johor Straits towards Singapore.
Extending over an area the size of five football fields, the grounds are carefully landscaped and regularly maintained. Besides second-to-none panoramic views of the Johor Straits, palm-lined driveways and manicured lawns make for a refreshing afternoon stroll or some casual cycling.
With plenty of free parking lots available, the Istana Garden is both accessible and a frequent jaunt for family outings. It is also common to see couples having their outdoor wedding photos taken here as well. It may get a little crowded during weekends but there are plenty of space for you to run about.
Nearby attractions include Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, Johor Bahru Zoo, and Sultan Abu Bakar Royal Museum. The old abandon Sultan Palace is located inside the Istana Garden, however members of the public are not allowed to go anywhere near the abandon building.
Istana Garden is open to the public everyday from 7am to 7pm.
Don’t forget to drop by this place as it will provide an escape from the busy city life.
