Looking for one of the most unlikely places to test your Lomography skills? Well, get on the passenger seat and make the driver take the onramp to the H1 Freeway. In spite of the usual traffic, this location does provide for some really interesting photos.
What can be said about the H1 Freeway to make it sound exciting? Granted it is in Hawaii, but really that is about it. Or is it? Sure it is a lot of cement and potholes. There is often so much traffic that it becomes a nightmare. Yet if you just go with the flow you’ll find that you can actually take some interesting pictures.
The main stretch of the H1 Freeway starts just to the east of the famous Diamond Head near Waikiki. From there it passes Honolulu and then goes up into the air and becomes a viaduct as it passes the airport. Then with a wide turn you head towards Aiea and the Aloha Stadium. From there you pass through the Pearl Harbor area and out towards central Oahu.
Pretty much it is very hard to avoid the H1 Freeway if you are trying to get to anyplace at all. So why not follow the famous axiom of “getting there is half the journey”? Lomograph some of your journey and you’ll find some interesting results!
