Take a Walk in Urca

Urca is a super quiet yet nice place for hiking, climbing or just for a relaxing weekend. There are also some nice eateries that you can visit along the way. A sunny afternoon in this exciting neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro can also make for beautiful photos, just bring your lomo camera!

Do you want to relax and enjoy the scenery in Rio? The Praia Vermelha in Urca is a great place to do this. Go on a walk or ride in the Bondinho do Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Cable Car), are some of the things that you can do and enjoy without so many tourists around to spoil your fun. For those who prefer to walk, there is a path called Bem-te-vi, which is the preferred location for trails and climbs if you’re the outdoorsy type. But for those who just want to relax, it is also a great place to unwind and a good spot to take delightful photos.

If you start to get hungry after all that walking, you can then get something filling from the Bar Urca – patties, pastel, and some codfish balls are some things you should try. You can also have these snacks to-go and enjoy it while sitting in the Guanabara Bay short wall if you like.

So if you are in Rio and it happened to be a sunny day, why not do some sightseeing in Urca and don’t forget your lomo!
