Marina Bay is one of Singapore's gems with plenty of activities happening around it throughout the year. Such events include the Singapore National Day in August, the F1 Night Race in September, and recently, the first Youth Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. Marina Bay's latest attraction was the iLIGHT. Asia's first sustainable light art festival.
Singapore recently hosted iLight Marina Bay, Asia’s first sustainable light art festival. It was held from October to November 7, 2010 at key locations in the area. iLight Marina Bay aims to celebrate Singapore’s dazzling “nightscape” through the use of energy-efficient lighting while also creating awareness for energy-saving lighting technology for the urban environment.
The attractions featured in the festival were seen through the “Light Walk”, which comprised of 26 dynamic light art installations and sculptures as well as interactive and performance-based art displays from talented local and international design luminaries. The art installations for iLight Marina Bay were placed across 3.5km of Marina Bay to make up the Light Walk. This included, The Helix Bridge, The Floating Platform, The Esplanade, One Fullerton, The Promontory @ Marina Bay, up to the City Gallery at the Waterfront Promenade. The event was open to public so everybody was free to explore and enjoy the lovely art installations.
For festivals like this, films with a high ISO and flash photography are highly recommended.
