Is wrestling fixed? or Training at the Wrestling School Austria

What better place to start a bachelor party than the Wrestling School Austria? You might already have compiled a list of way better options but what if the groom himself is a wrestling fan and you can book a training session with the famous Austrian wrestler Humungus?

To be clear: we are not talking about John Irving wrestling here, we are talking about Ric Flair wrestling. And the question raised in the title was never answered (or even addressed – just had to think about the song by Carter USM). So here’s what we did: a training at the Wrestling School Austria which is located in the cellar of a house in the second district. Which was not really high enough to do certain wrestling moves as many of us noted during the training – after watching endless hours wrestling in our youth we considered ourselves as experts…

Our trainer Humungus proved to be a super nice guy, quite unlike his ring persona. He was even wearing a shirt with a drawn on tie. We had high hopes of encourage him into kicking our groom around the whole time (which didn’t happen). Or taking him along for the rest of the night as personal bodyguard (which didn’t happen either). We were ten year olds for the time again!

So what was the training like? Extensive warming up, some falling techniques, a lit bit of ring action (mostly bouncing around) and a lot of fun. Check out the website for more information – if you are from Vienna or in town (there’s a hotel right opposite of the school, just saying) and want to do some wrestling training there’s no better place to start.

That looks like a lot of fun. Some of the groundwork techniques I recognize from doing Judo, and can legitimately do some real damage.

What was the camera and film? The shots have a really great atmosphere to them.

@coldkennels: thanks! all shots were taken with a yashica t5 loaded with fuji neopan 1600 b/w (the ones with more contrast) or lucky b/w 100 film (the greyer ones)
