Abandoned Boats along North Side River

Invisible from the road, there is a lot where several old boats and barges have been permanently "docked" along the Allegheny river.

Invisible from the road, there is a lot where several old boats and barges have been permanently “docked” along the Allegheny river. There’s really no telling how long the boats have been there, but they are now thoroughly rusted, and covered with graffiti from previous visitors. There is one individual boat that is flipped on its side, where you need to climb a tree to drop down on the side (and now the ‘top’) of the boat. A great hidden secret off of the bike path, through the woods. It’s a great place to sit and gaze at the river. A kind-of get-away within the city of Pittsburgh. The best way to get to the boats is to walk or bicycle along the bike trail that runs parallel to the river. There is a small opening in the trees, where you can walk down through the woods, and find the boats.
