Next to the town of Badajoz, in Spain, by the highway Lisbon / Madrid, there is a strange quarter, which is a satellite of that spanish town. It is coming to life : cause it is yet under construction; but some buildings are finished, so there is people living in there.

There is not much to say about this place. It is neither an historical nor properly a place for tourists. It is a satellite quarter of the town of Badajoz, in Spain. What makes it so special (to me) is its weirdness atmosphere and its straight architecture.

It is a strange place, indeed. Better, it is a weird place. Why? When we are in there (at least when I´m in there), there is a not slight sense of loneliness: because its large streets, relatively tall buildings, their form without a bend or curve (all those buildings have box volume, indeed they are boxes where people is living), so straight lines and the fact that the place is now hardly inhabited (it is yet under construction; but some buildings are finished so people is living in there).

This pair of things, form of the place and being scarcely inhabited, gives me some freakish cocktail of loneliness and weirdness… which is delicious at some level (similar to a rare wine we must carefully taste to adore). Its architecture has forgotten all archs, spheres, spirals, even mere curves… It is an utilitarian architecture, which has forgotten all aesthetic levels… or maybe not, cause it is not a repulsive place to lomograph, on the contrary.
