Too Many Walls in Intramuros

Who says that anything that's related to one's homeland's history is unendingly boring? Take a look around the Hispanic walls of Intramuros and see for yourself!

Intramuros literally means within the walls in the Latin language. It was built by the Spaniards during the 16th Century and it is, in fact, the oldest district in the City of Manila. Intramuros is located in the heart of Manila, making it very accessible for photographers whenever they want to have an out-of-the-blue photowalk.

That was what occurred to me and my 2 girl friends when the 3 of us went to Intramuros. We brought our knapsacks & cameras and the sun was directly above our heads. I was the only one who brought a film camera, though. And so I was more than ecstatic to capture the historical place in town on film!

The Manila City hall from afar.
The statue of King Carlos IV of Spain, Plaza de Roma.

We were not able to scour the entire vicinity of Intramuros but I would definitely want to go back there again and shoot! Intramuros is not only an awesome place to waste one’s films but also a great way to travel back in time and remember how the Spaniards truly influenced and molded our nationalism.
