Have you ever gone into a foreign school where you can't understand anyone and yet you shoot everyone else with your analogue camera like a big tourist? I have! Take a look at my film photographs which were taken at Manila Japanese School. じゃ、また!
Two of my half-Filipino half-Japanese nephews, Haruki and Ryu, used to study in Manila Japanese School. And because they’re only almost a year old apart from each other, they both belong in the same grade. Haruki and Ryu were players of their school’s soccer team. And so during one of their soccer games, Neil and I accompanied them. And of course, we brought our ammunitions with us!
Manila Japanese School is located in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and its neighboring schools are British School Manila and International School Manila. Japanese culture has always fascinated me and so being able to capture stills from a Japanese institution right here in Manila was really something — at least for me. Don’t get me wrong, MJS’ premises are really snap-worthy! Plus, being surrounded by people speaking Nihonggo was music to my ears!

Currently, though, Haruki and Ryu are already studying in Japan. I miss them both so much and my sister’s whole family, too. One day, I shall go to Japan and shoot around their schools there as well!
