Hanging out at High Street

I rarely go to Bonifacio High Street. It’s too out of the way, it’s too hot, it’s too expensive! But because I was desperate to shoot film, me, Shabby and basterda walked the 400 meter street under the hot blazing sun!!!

Bonifacio High Street is a great place to shoot! If it weren’t for the tight security who kept telling us we couldn’t shoot unless we had a permit! It was a great adventure to doge the guards and to pretend taking a picture of each other instead of just the fountains and different interesting structures found in the park!

Four-hundred meters long, Bonifacio High Street is an outdoor type mall with over a hundred restaurants and retail shops. This makes it unbearably hot during the summer and inconvenient during the rainy season. But it’s a great spot nonetheless especially since it’s very close and accessible to the main cities on Metro Manila.

For me, what makes this commercial area really interesting (and cooler during summer) is the well-landscaped park located in the middle of the street between the shops. Aside from the flowers and trees, there are fountains creatively constructed for the sightseers. A lot of events such as exhibits are done in Bonifacio High Street. In fact, it is a very popular venue for races and marathons which are held almost every Sunday in the early hours of the morning.
