Impossible Project NYC

I was only in New York for less than two days; I knew it was going to be impossible to see everything that I wanted to see. You could say that figuring out what to see in what order was a kind of impossible project.

My wife and I had been on our feet for nearly seven hours, and were looking for a healthy lunch when we found ourselves in front of 425 Broadway. The Impossible Project’s New York Gallery/Store wasn’t open yet, but we saw the word IMPOSSIBLE listed by the fifth floor buzzer, and grabbed the door as someone else walked out for a smoke break.

We climbed what seemed like a thousand steps to get to the singular and unadorned white door in the fifth floor hallway.

I looked at my wife and shrugged, she looked back at me, smiled, and nodded. With little expectation, I knocked.

To our surprise, Dave Bias responded quickly, “Hello?”

We were greeted and welcomed in by Dave and Ann, and they let us take a look around the soon to be opened space. We enjoyed the view from the window and admired the enlarged versions of the images from the first flush of PX100 instant film. It was a blast to get a sneak peak at this first exhibit (on display until August 22).

The Impossible Project’s NYC space is now open to the public – go check it out! :)

Monday – Friday: 10am-6pm
Saturday: Noon-5pm
