This garden is one of the most beautiful parks in Lisbon. It has lots of trees, grass and secret places, and also two different museums, library, restaurant, ... If you're in Lisbon don't miss it!
Jardim Calouste Gulbenkian (or Calouste Gulbenkian Garden) is one of the most beautiful and pleasant parks in Lisbon. It comprises 8ha, with unique trees, a wide central lake with ducks and other animals, several areas with grass where you can seat, a small water stream that runs through the park and secret places in every corner! All this make this an unique park and the perfect place to read a book, go on a date, have a picnic or simply snap some photos… After a couple of minutes, I bet you will be totally in love :)
Within the park, there is also an outdoor auditorium, where people usually sit to read their favorite books and in the summer watch the free concerts that happen there. Besides that, the Gulbenkian Foundation also promotes several music and dance performances in the main building auditorium, displays temporary exhibitions, holds conferences and sells books, mainly, but not only, from the book publisher that it also owns, with books specially in art, philosophy and science
In the park there are also two Museums. One, called the Gulbenkian Museum, has pieces from Egyptian art, paintings, decorative arts, Islamic art, etc. The other, the Modern Art Museum, has its own, very respectable, art library and also a nice small restaurant, besides, obviously, the modern art collection.
The park is free to enter (from sunrise to sunset) but to visit the museums you have to pay a fee, that ranges from 4€ for one museum to 7€ for both museums plus the temporary exhibitions gallery. The museums are open every day except Monday from 10:00 to 18:00. It’s possible to have 50% student or youth card discount, but most importantly, both museums have free admittance on Sundays, so try to take advantage of this!
It’s simply a fabulous place to hang out for a couple of hours, or if you can, spend an entire Sunday morning or afternoon. If you’re planning on visiting Lisbon you should definitely visit this place!
It is near the center of the city and you can easily reach it from Metro stations “Praça de Espanha” or “S. Sebastião”.

Don’t miss it!
